Oncethe temp gets so hot, the ECU commands the radiator fan to come on. If your A3 has a bad engine temp sensor the radiator fan won’t know to come on, because the ECU won’t know how hot the engine is. You’ll need to locate and test the engine temp sensor. Depending on the model year and engine, the location varies.
IntakeAir Temperature Sensor (G42) fault (2.0 tdi BKD) Lincoln, England. I have the below fault code showing on my '56 BKD (2.0 TDi) A3. I've swapped the sensor (F00C2G2055) over from a known working car (I also put the 'faulty' sensor on the good car). The fault stayed with the car.
