Jan 1, 2018. #1. A few months ago, I saw somewhere that did a kit for fitting the bmw M57 (330/530d) engine into a Defender. Kit had mounts and gearbox salter plates etc. Cant remember the life of me who it was though so wondering does anybody know on here? Thinking of going for a 535d swap on my new Defender rather than sticking with the TD5 Handling/Suspension upgrades. Handling modifications are often a priority for the Defender 110. If you set the toe out to 0.8 to 1.3 degrees on the front, and add some negative camber then cornering will usually improve. We would go to a maximum drop of 30mm - 36 mm on most models. Our Stage 4 tuning package is the ultimate performance upgrade for the Defender. This consists of a billet hybrid turbo, uprated intercooler, upgraded silicon hose set, air filter upgrade and air box modification, exhaust system upgrade and bespoke ECU remap. Providing all the benefits of our stage 3 package, with the addition of the Hybrid VGT Engine. The Land Rover Defender that you are looking to import must also still have its original engine installed. The number stamped into the block must match the number printed on the paperwork. Again, this will be inspected by US customs when they are determining if the vehicle is eligible for import under the 25-year classic rule. ENGINE PROJECT (swapping 3.9 with a 4.6 vs. rebuilding 3.9) I have a 1990 rover with a 3.9 which most likely blowing oil past the rings. i have the heads of it now and there is a real lot of carbon on the heads in the cylinders. Now I am wondering if anyone can give any insights on the viability of switching out this motor with a 4.6 liter. The bulk of the conversion is a kit from UK supplier JE Engineering which specialises in hot-rodded Land Rovers. The backbone of the conversion is Ford’s 6R80 transmission we talked about previously. The Ranger-specific version is sourced brand-new direct from Ford and bolts directly to the Defender 2.2L or 2.4L motors without adaptors. Other significant changes to the Defender’s look can be seen up front, where the whole front end is body colored, from what Land Rover people call a SVX-style grille to the headlight bezels. The result, especially with modern LED lighting hardware, is something a lot more modern-looking than the Defender would seem to have any right to be. m00qNy.
